⏵ character information
name: Daenerys Targaryen
canon: Game of Thrones (+ backstory elements from A Song of Ice and Fire)
age: 23
canon point: Season 7, Episode 5
history: Wikipedia
abilities:

⏵ dragon blood
Not only is she a Targaryen, which affords her the ability to bond with and command dragons, but Daenerys also hatched three of them on her own — from three petrified eggs. This is a feat that has not been documented before. And while she technically only bonded with Drogon, she still feels a special connection to Viserion and Rhaegal, who follow her commands as well.

Like others from her bloodline, Daenerys has an innate resistance to poisons and diseases. Unlike her family, however, she is completely resistant to fire, and cannot be harmed by it at all. No matter how high the temperature, she’s unbothered by it — and even enjoys it. If her baths aren’t scalding hot, she’s not interested.
⏵ dragon dreamer
On several occasions, Daenerys has had strange dreams that seemingly come true. She isn't always certain how to interpret them, but in the case of her three dragons, she was able to determine how to hatch their eggs thanks to one of these nighttime visions. They're intense, and vivid, and she has no idea how to control them.
⏵ multilingual
Daenerys has a gift for learning languages. Her native language, High Valyrian, came first, then the Common Tongue of Westeros. She also speaks the low Valyrian of the Free Cities as well as Dothraki and Ghiscari. It’s important to her that she learn the tongues of those she meets so that she can speak to people in their native language.
⏵ horsewoman
From her extensive time living among the Dothraki, a nomadic people whose culture centers around the Great Stallion, Daenerys became quite an adept and avid horsewoman. She knows how to care for them and takes great pleasure in riding, easily commanding and understanding their unique needs. Daenerys has a way with animals in general, but horses hold a special place in her heart.
personality: It may surprise most people to learn that Daenerys wasn’t always confident. This trait was forged in her like steel engulfed in flame, carefully tended to and shaped with each harrowing challenge set before her. There were countless times where lesser men would have given up in the face of so much adversity and torment, but her faith in herself and her unyielding, enduring desire to help people pushed Daenerys forward when nothing else could have. Underneath the hard exterior, she’s desperate to find a place of true belonging, which is perhaps why she fights so hard to free and care for those who have no protectors. From birth, Daenerys had to look out for herself, and she refuses to turn away from anyone in need of help when so many have turned away from her in her greatest hours of need.

That isn’t to say that Daenerys is entirely altruistic. While her desire to uplift her people runs deep, she also feels entitled to rulership. In her mind, her birthright was stolen and her bloodline nearly eradicated. The Seven Kingdoms are hers for the taking, and she will stop at nothing to reclaim it. She can often be single-minded in that regard, struggling to see the finer details when her goal is so crystal clear. However, Daenerys hasn’t survived this long without being incredibly adaptable. She’s perceptive, always paying attention and learning from her enemies as often as her allies, and this has ensured her survival just as much as her willpower.

Still, ruling can be a lonely path to walk. Daenerys often feels as though she has to appear strong even when she feels brittle, cloaking her doubts and insecurities in cool, even-keeled self-assurance. She bristles when she isn’t taken seriously — whether due to her gender, young age, or small stature — and she has cultivated a commanding presence in order to mitigate some of that. This means, though, that Daenerys also can’t let her guard down very often, or show any sort of vulnerability, and that has had a profound effect on her. She feels lonelier than ever, and her thoughts frequently turn to family, both those she lost and those she has yet to meet. Daenerys wonders what sort of person Rhaego might have grown up to be, and if she truly is unable to have children. It might mean she will never have the family she desperately wants, and that cuts deeper than she will ever admit.

For all she wears her scars like badges of honor, Daenerys isn’t untouched by all that she’s experienced and endured. Because she was raised on the tenuous generosity of ambitious rich men, Daenerys rarely trusts a gift, and even more rarely accepts them without first making a bargain. She is also a light sleeper, and keeps very few personal items, always ready to flee at a moment’s notice no matter how long she’s lived in one place. Some might assume this to be a sign of modesty, but it’s simply what remains of a young woman who never felt safe anywhere, and she’s still trying to find a way to live without fear and desperation haunting her every step.

If nothing else, Daenerys is a survivor. Surrender simply isn’t in her vocabulary, and no threat will ever deter her from pursuing what she wants. Daenerys is incredibly proud, and she refuses to let her past define the future she intends to seize with both hands. This is both a strength and a weakness, of which she’s highly aware. It’s why she’s so careful about choosing her council: she relies on them to be honest with her, or else she might become the monster her father was. That’s the last thing Daenerys wants, and she approaches this concern with practicality and planning in the hope that she might be different.
